Meyer Farms Bio
In the 1970’s Mr. Meyer was one of the youngest and most celebrated chefs in Chicago. In 1976 Vern was involved in opening the historic Ritz Carlton Chicago. He went on to work with for Jay Pritzker and the Hyatt Corporation as a chef and then turned his passion for cooking into a successful catering business in the 1980’s.
By the early 1990’s Mr. Meyer developed a better way to grow and distribute fresh herbs and became an herb expert and the pioneer of the most industry changing fresh herb packaging solutions while building a 500+ person company, The Herbal Garden, with over $20 million in annual revenues while owning and operating multiple farms in the U.S., Mexico and Guatemala. The Herbal Garden was sold to a private equity company in 2008 and Mr. Meyer stayed on as a consultant.
During the last 10 years Mr. Meyer has continued his involvement in the produce industry by helping clients grow and create their value added products while assisting in innovative packaging, fulfillment, distribution and marketing solutions with Worldwide Farms. Mr. Meyer is currently the Owner of Meyer Farms.
